Just seen this:  http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-22621829, where SAP are saying they will seek to recruit those with Autism to work in their business citing the ‘special skills’ they may have.

I can almost see the HR folks twitching about such a move – its fraught with difficulty in the shape of sensitivities – political, moral and personal, as well as the not inconsiderable candidate testing required – how the hell do you know if you’ve got the right kind of person with the right ‘attention to detail’ or ‘innovative way of looking at things’?

That said, it’s still a great idea, and is an innovation in the way a workforce is considered.

The challenges of a more demanding set of workers is something that will need careful management, but here’s hoping they pull it off and see some innovative thinking and some productive people on board!
