In 2014, I’m going to revamp, renovate or rejuvenate my wardrobe.  For one reason or another, I’ve mostly ignored this part of life for the last several years. Not one piece of my wardrobe isn’t old and tired. Most is ill-fitting, and some (most) is not optimised for my look. I don’t even have a look.  There is a lot of work ahead.

There are probably a few reasons this is the case. I’ve never really been terribly fashion conscious for a start. Actually, my parents weren’t. I wore hand-me-downs through necessity. I had larger clothes purchased so I could ‘grow into them’. Nothing uncommon here… but most folks get some kind of ideas don’t they?!

So, as more of a plan, work in progress if you will, I think I need to address:

  • What colours work best for a man like me?
  • What style(s) do I want to go for and wear?
  • What needs to go from my current collection of rags?
  • What needs to be purchased to give me what I need?
  • What accessories do I need? (Shoes, Belt, Glasses etc)

I don’t know if there’s more. There probably is. What I do know is that this is about laying foundations and learning lessons – I don’t want to repeat this in 5 years, and I already know that I won’t be wearing skinny jeans and thick rimmed glasses.

So there you go. Nothing may come of this of course. But at least I’ve thought about it.
